Giving that never stops... despite the absence

The Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Distinguished Academic Performance was established in 1998, and the Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences in 1999, at the initiative of the late Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Both initiatives aimed to support quality in education and medicine, and nurture talent and innovation. The awards have expanded from local to international, in collaboration with prestigious organizations. In 2018, the Hamdan Bin Rashid Foundation for Distinguished Academic Performance was established, and in 2023, the Hamdan Bin Rashid Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences was established, to promote excellence and creativity in these two sectors.

FabLab

The Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences launched the "Fab Lab UAE" project with the aim of fostering an innovative and productive Emirati generation. The project seeks to create a supportive environment for innovation and establish a comprehensive infrastructure by providing community centers known as Fab Labs. "Fab Lab" is short for "Fabrication Laboratory," which refers to a manufacturing lab. These labs grant access to the latest tools, devices, and software in the world of digital fabrication, making them available to all segments of society.

Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation Organizes a Webinar to Raise Awareness About Breast Cancer

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 14 October 2024: Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences successfully concluded a specialized scientific webinar yesterday, focusing on the latest updates in breast cancer diagnosis and treatment. The event drew participation from prominent global experts and attracted a wide audience of healthcare professionals, researchers, and individuals engaged in oncology. The webinar highlighted the most recent medical innovations and scientific breakthroughs in breast cancer care, with participants exploring the ongoing challenges faced by physicians in bridging the gap between research and clinical practice. Among the key challenges discussed was the complexity of breast cancer diagnosis, which is driven by the genetic and biological diversity of the disease. Achieving an accurate diagnosis requires the use of advanced techniques such as molecular profiling and genetic testing, which allow for the customization of treatment plans based on each patient’s unique characteristics. This complexity places significant demands on physicians to select and apply the most effective treatment paths, as discussed by the experts during the session. Hamdan Foundation Unveils "Advanced Education: Innovation in Teaching, Leadership, Technology, and Assessment" Book

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, October 1, 2024: Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences has announced launched the book titled "Advanced Education: Innovation in Teaching, Leadership, Technology, and Assessment," in celebration of Teacher's Day, which falls on the upcoming October 5. The book was authored by a distinguished group of academics in collaboration with the foundation. Aiming at teachers, educational leaders, policymakers, and students in educational programs, the book offers valuable insights into peer evaluation, active learning strategies, educational governance, and the integration of technology. It also presents specialized research and studies on assessment, serving as a comprehensive resource for understanding contemporary educational practices for both students and professionals in the field. The book launch ceremony was attended by senior officials from the foundation, relevant stakeholders, academics, educational institutions, media representatives, and educational professionals. Commenting on the book’s release, Dr. Khalifa Al Suwaidi, Secretary-General and CEO of Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences, said: “The launch of the book Advanced Education: Innovation in Teaching, Leadership, Technology, and Assessment, authored by a distinguished group of academics under the foundation’s patronage, marks a significant contribution to the educational sector. Hamdan Bin Rashid Foundation and UNESCO Honor the Winners of the "Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum-UNESCO Prize" in Paris and Sign a Strategic MoU

Paris, France; Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 5 October 2024: In a ceremony attended by senior officials and UNESCO’s permanent delegates, Sheikh Rashid Bin Hamdan Al Maktoum, Supreme President of Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences, honored the winners of the "Hamdan-UNESCO Prize for Teacher Development" in its eighth cycle. Held in UNESCO’s main hall in Paris, the event highlighted a shared commitment to advancing teacher quality worldwide. During the ceremony, Sheikh Rashid and the delegation also witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Foundation and UNESCO. This strategic agreement, supported by Hamdan-UNESCO Fund, aims to enhance teacher-focused programs implemented by UNESCO, reinforcing the partnership’s dedication to educational support and development. In his address, Sheikh Rashid Bin Hamdan expressed appreciation for UNESCO’s continued support in education, science, and culture, noting its essential role in fostering international cooperation to strengthen education, promote cultural diversity, and encourage human innovation. Seven projects reached the final selection stage of the "Hamdan-UNESCO Prize for Teacher Development" in 2024, representing countries including Indonesia, Angola, Norway, China, and Brazil, each contributing to enhancing education and strengthening teacher capabilities. First launched in 2008 with the support of the late Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Hamdan-UNESCO Prize aims to support and encourage those working globally to advance teacher effectiveness, aligning with UNESCO's core principles and objectives.

Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation Participates in the International Symposium "Appreciating Teachers: Towards a New Social Contract for Education"

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 7 October 2024: Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences participated in the international symposium "Appreciating Teachers: Towards a New Social Contract for Education", organized yesterday by the Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States in celebration of World Teachers' Day. The symposium featured participation from notable figures, including HE. Dr. Abdul Rahman bin Mohammed Al-Asmi, Director-General of the Bureau, HE. Dr. Abdulrahman Almedaries, Director General of the UNESCO Regional Centre of Quality and Excellence in Education (RCQE) in Saudi Arabia, and HE. Dr. Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Bunyan, Deputy Director-General of the National Institute for Educational Professional Development. Participants showcased experiences and practices in the education sector, especially programs aimed at preparing and developing teachers. In the discussion sessions, teachers shared recommendations on how to advance the teaching profession and redefine teachers' roles and responsibilities in response to rapid changes. The study concluded that teachers in such countries exhibit intellectual dynamism thanks to the trust they gain, noting the importance of encouraging similar practices in other communities and establishing systems for listening to teachers. This represents a key element in advancing the education sector and reinforcing the teacher’s role in serving the community and contributing to sustainable development.

Dubai Health Authority and Hamdan Bin Rashid Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences Sign Memorandum of Understanding

In a bid to enhance the quality of health and educational services in Dubai, the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) and Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences have formalised their partnership through a memorandum of understanding (MoU). The MoU aims to foster cooperation between the two entities, supporting Dubai’s vision for sustainable health and education through a series of strategic initiatives and specialised programmes. The MoU was signed by H.E. Awadh Seghayer Al Ketbi, Director General of the DHA, and Dr. Khalifa Al Suwaidi, Secretary-General and CEO of Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences in the presence of senior officials and experts from both parties. Under the terms of the MoU, DHA and the Foundation will build a robust partnership that extends cooperation across a variety of fields related to creativity and innovation. Key areas of focus include the organisation of conferences, seminars, scientific forums, and medical training programmes that align with Dubai’s health sector priorities. The initiatives will enable knowledge sharing and the transfer of expertise, ensuring the collaboration remains up-to-date with the latest developments both locally and internationally. The MoU further stipulates collaboration on publishing award-winning research in recognised journals and supporting events that align with health sector objectives, promote community awareness, and facilitate the exchange of publications, marketing, and media materials between the two entities. Following the signing, H.E. Awadh Seghayer Al Ketbi, Director General of the DHA, stated that the Authority places great emphasis on research, studies, training, medical education, and professional development. He underscored that innovation in these areas is essential to enhancing the health sector with exceptional medical talent across various specialisations.
