Scientific Committee of Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Medical Award reviews the nomination status 11 December 2011
Recently, the Scientific Committee of the prestigious Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences held a meeting, headed by Prof. Yusuf Abdul Razzaq the Chairman, to review the status of the nominations for the award in its 7th term 2011-2012. 
 
The meeting was attended by the chairmen of the award’s sub-committees including Prof. Sheriff Karam, Chairman of the Subcommittee of Grand Hamdan International Award, Prof. Hassib Narchi, Chairman of the Subcommittee of Hamdan International Award for Medical Research Excellence, Dr. Salim Bastaki Chairman of the Subcommittee of Hamdan International Award for Volunteers in Humanitarian Medical Services, and Dr. Saad Ghazal Aswad, Chairman of the Sub-Committee of Hamdan Award for the Best Medical College/ Institute or Centre in the Arab World.
 
Amid expectations of collecting the largest possible number of nominations by the end of December 2011, the deadline for receiving nominations for the award in its 3 categories including the international, the Arab world and the UAE awards, Prof. Yusuf Abdul Razzaq was briefed on the efforts exerted by the award’s sub-committees to encourage scientists, researchers and specialists to submit their nominations through establishing channels of communication with embassies and consulates in the UAE and universities, colleges, institutes, organizations, and medical research centers inside and outside UAE.
 
It should be noted that, during the 7th term of the Award (2011-2012), neonatal medicine was chosen to be the topic of Grand Hamdan International Award, and fetal medicine, nutrition in infants and inborn errors of metabolism were chosen to be the topics of Hamdan International Award for Medical Research Excellence.
