H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, UAE Minister of Finance, and the Patron of Hamdan Medical Award received H.E. Abdul Rahman Al Owais, the UAE Minister of Health and Prevention and the Chairman of the Award’s Board of Trustees, and the Board’s members. During the meeting, H.H. Sheikh Hamdan approved the names of 16 winners of the 9th term (2015-2016), which is mainly centered on Gastroenterology.

 

Also, the members of the Board of Trustees congratulated H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid on being honored from the Arab Society for Islamic civilization and selected as the “civilizational personality of the year 2016”.

 

During the meeting which has been held at Zabeel Palace yesterday evening, H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid was briefed on the winners of the international awards, Arab World Awards, and UAE awards. H.H. Sheikh Hamdan praised the transparency and impartiality in selecting the winners, which is the harvest of the great efforts by the members of the award’s scientific committees, General Secretariat, and Board of Trustees, during the previous 2 years.

 

H.H. Sheikh Hamdan was briefed on the arrangements for the ceremony to honor the winners on Dec. 14, in conjunction with the 9th Dubai International Conference for Medical Sciences (14 -16 December).

 

On the other hand, the members of the Board of Trustees have thanked H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum on his generous and continuous support for the health and medical sectors. Also, they praised the important role played by the award for achieving the medical excellence locally, regionally and internationally.

 

“As a civilizational personality, the achievements and initiatives of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan have managed to improve the quality of lives of many poor people around the globe”, they said.

 

The meeting was attended by the members of the Board of Trustees of the Hamdan Medical Award including Dr. Hussein Abdul Rahman Al Rand, Assistant Undersecretary for health centers and clinics, UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention, Dr. Al Said Jafar Al-Said Mohammed, and Abdullah bin Souqat. Also, attended the meeting are Ali Bul Rahief, from the Protocol Department, Dubai, and Ziad Galadari, a board member of the Dubai World Trade Center.

 

Abdullah bin Souqat announced that the official announcement of the winners will be in the press conference to be organized by the award during the few upcoming days, and the awards are at a total value of AED 2 million and 800 thousand.

 

“The category of the International awards includes the Grand Hamdan Award, about Gastroenterology, Hamdan Award for Medical Research Excellence, which is centralized on Liver, Colon and Pancreatic diseases, along with Hamdan Award for Volunteers in Humanitarian Medical Services”. 

“As for the Arab World Awards, it includes Hamdan Award for the Best Medical College / Institute or Center in the Arab world, and Hamdan Award for Honoring Distinguished Personalities from the Arab World”.

 

“Regarding the UAE awards, they include Hamdan Award for the Best Medical Department in the Government Sector in the UAE, Hamdan Award for Medical Distinguished Personalities, and Hamdan Award for the Best Research Published in the Journal of Medical Sciences”.
