Sheikh Rashid bin Hamdan opens the DIAD & DIAL Conferences in Dubai 10 November 2016

As a representative for H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, UAE Minister of Finance, and the Patron of Hamdan Medical Award, Sheikh Rashid bin Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum inaugurated the first conferences of Dubai International Academy of Dermatopathology (DIAD) & Dubai International Academy of Laser & Aesthetic Dermatology (DIAL).
 
Over the course of three days, the conferences are held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and organized by Hamdan Medical Award, at St. Regis Hotel, Dubai, with the participation of more than 400 specialists from 25 countries around the world who will receive 39.5 CME hours accredited by the UAE Ministry of Health.
 
The opening ceremony was attended by H.E. Humaid Al Qutami, Chairman of the Board, Director General of the Dubai Health Authority, Abdullah bin Souqat, a member of the Board of Trustees of the Hamdan Medical Award, and Dr. Mahmoud Taleb Al Ali, the Director of the award’s Centre for Arab Genomic Studies.
 
In his opening speech, H.E. Humaid Al Qutami welcomed the guests at this important event which brings together, under one roof, two world class scientific conferences tackling dermatology namely skin tissue pathology and dermatology treatments sub specialties.
 
“With Dubai hosting those two important events, it is a confirmation of the leading role of our beloved U.A.E. in support of a culture of innovation and encouragement of an enlightened future with all its aspects, whether being challenges for which we need to prepare for or promising opportunities to utilize”, he added.
 
“In the world of successive and rapid developments in research and technology, in all medical disciplines especially in the field of Dermatology, the importance of organizing such conferences to view the latest findings of modern science in this area becomes magnified”.
“The convening of such events, also confirms the importance of promoting interest in all disciplines in the field of Dermatology, primarily cutaneous tissue pathology which is the base in the diagnosis of skin diseases followed by reaching precise and effective treatment including serious skin diseases such as tumors”.
Also, H.E. AL Quitami highlighted that the Keen interest of DHA to support all medical specialties in dermatology was one of the elements that enhanced the status of the emirate of Dubai on the medical tourism map in the region, especially that dermatology is a medical specialty that make up the core to promote this sector to attract more than half a million treatment tourists by 2020. In accordance with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, "may Allah protect him" and the generous patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, enjoyed by the authority and close follow up of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Minister of Finance, President of Dubai Health Authority
“Dubai health authority granted Dermatology and cosmetic surgery, the bulk of its attention, based on Dubai's successes in establishing and nurturing world class centres serving this important discipline, and its success in attracting elite medical specialists, whether permanent residents in Dubai or visitors, leading to, Dubai becoming a global destination with a distinctive mark in the field of cosmetic tourism”, he added.
 
“In addition the Authority established a high-level center for the treatment of skin diseases, featuring a group of leading doctors and specialists in the fields of dermal tissue diseases and cosmetic dermatology.  As well as various Divisions and specialized outpatient clinics deployed in our hospitals and health centers, which strengthens our global competitiveness in these advanced subspecialties, and supports our centers on the level of international medical tourism map”.
“At the same time the health authority has taken measures so that they can organize matters of the specialized health institutions in the field of Dermatology and cosmetic surgery as well as set regulations and standards preserving the patient's right to access high-quality health services in accordance with best medical practices, whether at the level of Government or private health sector”.
“The association’s support to these conferences is a confirmation of our interest to enforce the specialists’ performance and their potential while practicing the profession by enhancing the practical and the training side, which reflects positively on the to receive the best possible services”.
At the end of his speech, H.E. AL Qutami thanked all associations and organizations involved in supporting these conferences and specially the world society for Dermatology and pathology, European society for laser Dermatology, and European society of cosmetic dermatology.
Also, he extended his appreciation to Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences for organizing these conferences, as it has always been a key sponsor for innovations in the health sector (locally, regionally and internationally).
During the opening ceremony, Prof. Omar al Sheikh, a pioneer and visionary in the field of Dermatology & Laser Surgery, delivered a speech in which he spoke about the successful linkage between the science of skin pathology & cosmetic dermatology using laser, and highlighted the importance of clinical dermatology and pathology in parallel with the aesthetic medicine for specillists.
 
“A successful dermatologist must be conversant with skin pathology which concerns studying the nature of diseases and structural &functional changes that are associated with various diseases and diseases caused by changes in the tissues”, he assured. 
 
Then, Dr. Faiza al Ali, the President of the conference, gave her speech in which she said: “Criteria for diagnosis may evolve over the years with increased experience and new staining techniques. There I came up with the idea of establishing DIAD, Dubai International Academy of Dermatopathology conference, a knowledge without which no definite diagnosis is ever possible.
 
“It's the first event in the Middle East that dedicated to Dermatopathology at such a level. Authorized by 3 international societies”, she said.
“It has exclusive features such as live injection sessions, virtual slides workshops, Board exam preparation, and open microscopy lab.  Providing Extensive training for residents & fellows, giving them the tools they need to make histology diagnosis genuinely entertaining and simple”, she added.  
Then, Sheikh Rashid bin Hamdan bin Rashid al Maktoum, and H.E. Humaid al Quitami opened the accompanying exhibition, in which 22 companies present their latest products and techniques in this field of medicine.
