UNESCO praises H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid support for its programs in Africa & South Asia 18 March 2017
18th March, 2017 - Dr. Irina Bokova, Director-General of UNESCO, commended the generous support by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and UAE Minister of Finance, to the UNESCO's programs in the developing countries, particularly in Africa and South Asia.
 
This came within the reception held by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid at Zabeel Palace, Dubai, where the two sides reviewed the UNESCO's role in supporting efforts to spread education among children in the poor communities.
 
During the meeting, Dr. Irina Bokova invited H.H. Sheikh Hamdan to attend the opening ceremony of the Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Hall in the UNESCO headquarters in Paris next October. The renovated hall is equipped with the latest voice and lighting systems to be ready to host the conferences organized by the UNESCO.
 
The reception was attended by H.E. Abdulrahman bin Mohammed Al Owais, the UAE Minister of Health and Prevention, H.E. Rashid Ahmed bin Fahad, the UAE Minister of State, H.E. Humaid bin Mohammed Al Qutami, the Chairman of the Board and Director General of the Dubai Health Authority, and a number of officials.
