Four winners of the Hamdan International awards for Medical Sciences among the speakers at the 10th DICMS 08 December 2018
Dubai-8th December, 2018: Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences announced that the winners of the Grand Hamdan International Award and the Hamdan International Award for Medical Research Excellence will be among the 18 speakers at the 10th Dubai International Conference for Medical Sciences (DICMS). The winners are from the United Kingdom, France, USA, Egypt, Spain, Switzerland, Morocco, and KSA.
 
Abdullah bin Souqat, a member of the Board of Trustees of Hamdan Medical Award, said that the main topic of the 10th DICMS, which will be held at Roda Al Bustan Hotel, Dubai on the 13th and 14th of December, is Musculoskeletal Disorders with a focus on Rheumatological Disorders, Orthopedics and Orthopedic Mechanics.
 
“A total of 13 lectures and 11 workshops will be presented and attended by approximately 500 doctors and specialists”, he said.
 
“DICMS is held once every 2 years after with the award ceremony. It is an important scientific platform through which doctors and researchers all over the region are able to communicate directly with senior researchers and scientists whose significant research have resulted into major impacts on healthcare sectors all over the world, especially in the preventive and therapeutic domains. Participants in the conference will receive 11.5 hours of CME hours accredited by Dubai Health Authority,” Abdullah bin Souqat added.
 
Dr.Jamal Al Saleh, Chairman of the Scientific Committee of the Conference and Medical Director and Head of Rheumatology at Dubai Hospital said, “The speakers at the conference include Professor Frederick S. Kaplan from the Department of Orthopedic Surgery, Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia USA, who is also winner of the Grand Hamdan International Award on the topic of musculoskeletal disorder. In his lecture, he will discuss the progressive transformation of one organ system into another as a fundamental signature of fibrodysplasia ossificans progressive, an ultrarare and catastrophic disorder of extraskeletal bone formation in humans.”
 
The winners of the Hamdan Award for Outstanding Medical Research, Professor Graham Hughes, from the London Lupus Centre Ltd, London Bridge Hospital United Kingdom, will a lecture on the Hughes Syndrome- a new chapter in medicine. Prof.Franklin Sim will talk about his experience in Mayo Clinic on the implementation of 3D printing in an oncology practice.
 
In addition, Professor Vijay Goyal, a biology engineer from the Faculty of Engineering and Medicine, Toledo University, USA, will present his work on the development of an innovative technique for spinal disorders.
