The Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences, announced the completion of the indexing process for the Hamdan Medical Journal in the “Directory of open access journals” which is one of the indexing platforms that adopts the policy of verifying that open access scientific journals follow the best practices of scientific publication such as the ethical considerations, acceptance guidelines and the peer review for all articles in line with the requirements of the major indexing platforms. The DOAJ provides more than 900,000 page views to the listed periodicals and 300,000 visitors per month from all over the world. It is worth mentioning that this comes in conjunction with the upgrade of the online submission platform done by the publishing partner of the journal, "Wolters Kluwer – Mednow," which is considered as one of the largest scientific publishers.

 

His Excellency Abdullah Bin Sougat, Executive Director of the Hamdan Medical Award stated that the Hamdan Medical Journal is meant to assist healthcare professionals; doctors, nursing staff, and researchers in their endeavour to improve health care and disseminate research, with a special focus on the Middle East and the Gulf region. This comes to reflect the vision of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Minister of Finance, and Chairman of the Dubai Health Authority, to put more efforts to enrich the scientific research and to escalate the collaboration between the researchers in the United Arab Emirates and their peers in medical centers around the world. The support for the research that has been conducted in the region, and the intent to continuously improve the medical education have been reflected in the articles and reviews of highly expert researchers and authors in various fields, as well as assisting young doctors and researchers in their first experiences in the field of medical publishing.

 

It is worth noting that Hamdan Medical Journal is one of the publications of the Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences. It is a general, open access medical journal specialized in publishing medical researches and abstracts in all medical and scientific fields from inside and outside the United Arab Emirates. The journal has been published periodically every three months since 2012, in electronic and print versions, and has also been published in about 13 volumes, more than 45 issues and 500 research articles.

 

The journal is registered with many abstracting partners such as the CNKI (China National Knowledge Infrastructure), EBSCO Publishing electronic databases, Google Scholar, Hinari, ProQuest, and many others.
