Center for Arab Genomic studies organizes a webinar next ‎June ‎ 30 May 2022
The Centre for Arab Genomic Studies ‎‎(CAGS), a division of the Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al ‎Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences, is organizing a webinar ‎which will discuss Lysosomal Storage Disorders, they are a type ‎of inborn errors of metabolism and include a group of about 50 ‎rare and genetic disorders such as Gaucher disease, Niemann-‎Pick disease, Pompe disease, and Tay-Sachs disease.‎

The webinar will feature distinguished doctors and researchers in ‎the field of genetics who will share their most recent studies with ‎the participants, and will be held on Wednesday 8th of June, ‎‎2022.‎
The webinar will feature talks by Prof. Husain Onay, Founder ‎MULTiGEN Biotech, Turkey and will discuss Genetics of ‎Lysosomal Storage Disorders, and Prof. Ahmed Al Faris, ‎Medical Consultant, King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research ‎Centre, KSA and will discuss Variant analysis and interpretation ‎of lysosomal storage diseases.‎

Dr.Mahmoud Taleb Al Ali Director of CAGS said" "It gives me ‎great pleasure to announce our first CME activity of this year. ‎The CAGS webinar series has been very well received so far, and ‎the team has worked hard on designing a further webinar in this ‎series, this time focusing on  Lysosomal Storage disorders (LSD).

Although most of these LSDs are individually rare, together ‎they contribute to a big genetic burden on society. It is estimated ‎that 1 in 5,000 live births is affected by some form of LSD. Our ‎in-house repository, the Catalogue for Transmission Genetics in ‎Arabs (CTGA) Database, hosts data on several LSDs, their ‎associated genes, and variants within these genes reported in ‎Arab patients. The data is freely accessible to clinicians and ‎researchers who would like to use it". ‎
