‎7th International Trauma Congress Kicks off under the ‎Patronage of Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for ‎Medical Sciences 17 February 2023
Under the patronage of the Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al ‎Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences  and with the support of ‎the Dubai Health Authority, the 7th International Trauma ‎Congress (ITC) kicked off today at the Meridian Hotel in Dubai. ‎The Congress will be held from the 17 to 19 February.‎
 
The Congress opening took place in the presence of His ‎Excellency Awad Al Ketbi, Director General of Dubai Health ‎Authority, and His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Al Hashemi, Member of ‎the Board of Trustees of Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum ‎Award for Medical Sciences. Around 2,000 specialists in the field ‎of bones and fractures will be attending the event ove the course ‎of the next three days.‎
 
During his opening speech, Dr. Bilal Al-Yafawi, President of the ‎conference, welcomed the attendees and confirmed that over ‎the past six years, the conference has become a destination for ‎orthopedic workers from inside the country and from all over ‎the Arab region. He pointed out that although the coronavirus ‎pandemic has seriously damaged scientific gatherings and many ‎conferences have stopped worldwide, this did not deter them ‎from holding the conference in the previous three years, and the ‎conference and training workshops were kept alive.‎
 
Reviewing  the scientific program of the conference, Dr. Bilal ‎said, "Nine of the best orthopedic surgeons in the world will ‎attend the conference this year to talk about the latest ‎technologies in orthopedics and fractures. The lecturers come ‎from 19 countries in the world." He added, "To maintain a ‎balance between theoretical education and practical application, ‎‎10 practical workshops will be held in parallel with the ‎conference over four days, the largest value in the region."‎
 
Dr. Ahmed Al Hashemi also stressed during his speech that the ‎sponsorship of the Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum ‎Award for Medical Sciences for this conference is a source of ‎pride for the Award to continue to achieve the vision of the late ‎Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Founder of the ‎Award, by providing support for all activities related to ‎continuing medical education. He reiterated the commitment of ‎the Award in sparing no effort in supporting all health sectors ‎inside and outside the country and in all health specialties, in ‎order to consolidate the vision of its late Patron, Sheikh Hamdan ‎bin Rashid Al Maktoum.‎
 
It is worth mentioning that this year, the conference will host ‎some of the most skilled surgeons in the world and the Arab ‎region in the field of trauma surgery and orthopaedic fractures. ‎More than 2,000 orthopaedic specialists from around the world ‎will are participating in the conference.‎
 
The activities of the first day of the conference included a rich ‎scientific program through scientific sessions presented by a ‎group of specialists who discussed the latest developments and ‎best practises in hip injuries and hip replacement, in addition to ‎discussing some cases of knee injuries and the findings of ‎research to identify the causes and best ways to prevent and ‎treat knee pain.‎
