The Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum ‎Award for Medical Sciences will continue the activities of its webinar ‎series for the winners of the 12th term, through its second webinar, ‎which will be held on Wednesday, 15th of March 2023 at 7:00 PM UAE ‎time. The webinar will discuss the topic " Antibody Evasion Properties ‎of SARS-CoV-2 Variants" and will feature a talk by Prof. David Ho, ‎Professor of Medicine and the Founding Scientific Director of the Aaron ‎Diamond AIDS Research Center at Columbia University Vagelos ‎College of Physicians and Surgeons. Prof. Ho was the winner of the ‎Hamdan Award for ‎Medical Research Excellence ‎on the topic of ‎immunity in the 12th term of the Award. ‎

The webinar will be chaired by Prof. Taher Rizvi, Professor of ‎Molecular Virology at UAE University, Director of the Zayed bin Sultan ‎al Nahyan Center for Health Sciences and Member of the Mohamed bin ‎Rashid Academy of Scientists. ‎

The Award initiated the series in February through a webinar that ‎discussed the successful elimination of Group A Meningococcal ‎Meningitis from Sub-‎Saharan Africa. This webinar featured Prof. ‎LaForce, the ‎recipient of the Hamdan Award for ‎Medical Research ‎Excellence ‎on the topic of prevention of infectious diseases, and was ‎attended by close to 900 professionals from various health sectors.‎

His Excellency Abdullah bin Souqat, Executive Director of the Award, ‎expressed his happiness with the results of the first webinar, and stressed ‎the importance of continuing to organize such important events to build ‎the vision of the late Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, which ‎contributes greatly to the advancement of the medical sector and follow-‎up with the latest developments in the field of scientific research.‎
