Hamdan Medical Award Continues the 12th term Winner’s Webinar ‎Series ‎ 24 May 2023
The Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum ‎Award for Medical Sciences continues the 12th term winner’s webinar ‎series, through its third webinar, which will be held on Saturday, May 27, ‎‎2023 at 10:00 am UAE time. The webinar will discuss the topic: Cancer ‎Immunotherapy – what have we achieved and what have we still to ‎achieve?‎
The webinar will feature a talk by feature Prof. Ian Hector Frazer, the ‎Founding CEO and Director of Research of the Translational Research ‎Institute (TRI) at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Queensland, ‎Australia. Dr. Frazer is the recipient of the Grand Hamdan Award in ‎the12th term. The webinar will be chaired by Prof. Gulfaraz Khan, ‎Professor of Viral Pathology at the Department of Microbiology & ‎Immunology at the UAEU.‎
His Excellency Abdullah Bin Souqat, Executive Director of the Award, ‎stated that, "The Award has been working since its establishment with ‎the academic and health community to serve the health care sector as a ‎non-governmental organization and continues its efforts to improve its ‎ability to communicate with specialists all over the world."‎
The Award initiated the webinar series in February through a webinar ‎that ‎discussed the successful elimination of Group A Meningococcal ‎‎Meningitis from Sub-‎Saharan Africa. This webinar featured Prof. ‎‎LaForce, the ‎recipient of the Hamdan Award for ‎Medical Research ‎‎Excellence ‎on the topic of prevention of infectious diseases, and was ‎‎attended by close to 900 professionals from various health sectors.‎
The seconed webinar which discuessed antibody ‎evasion properties ‎of ‎SARS-CoV-2 variants was held in  March. This webinar featured a talk ‎by Prof. David Ho, recipient of the ‎Hamdan ‎Award for ‎Medical Research ‎Excellence ‎on the topic of ‎immunity in ‎the 12th term of the Award, and ‎was attended by more than 1200 delegates from ‎‎25 countries. ‎
