Hamdan Award for Volunteers in Humanitarian Medical Services
The Prize amount is AED Three hundred thousand (AED 300,000) (Approx.US$ 82,000) to be awarded to 4 winners, 2 individuals will receive AED Fifty Thousand each (AED 50,000) (Approx. US$ 13,500) and 2 institutions will receive AED One Hundred Thousand each (AED 100,000) (Approx.US$ 27,000).
This award will be presented to four individuals {personalities or organizations (doctors or others)} who provide important voluntary services and who significantly contribute to alleviating the suffering of a large number of human beings subjected to exceptional circumstances such as catastrophes, epidemics, famine, wars and natural calamities.
Rules and Regulations
- Nomination should include the following:
- A letter of nomination from a nominating body in which reasons for nomination for the Award are mentioned.
- Typed current Curriculum Vitae detailing the nominee's academic background, experience and previous position, a list of all published work, and a detailed account of the voluntary work he/she has been involved in.
- The nominee's office and home mailing addresses, including telephones fax and e-mail.
- Justifications for nomination (please provide evidence showing that the nominated person is outstanding and has significantly contributed to alleviate human suffering. Include all supporting evidence such as field reports, copies of peer reports, external reports, and citations).
- Previous awards, honours, or recognition received for volunteer activities (Please state the name, nature, source, and date of each.)
- Three recent colour photographs. For organizations 3 colour photographs of the individual nominated to receive the award on its behalf.
- Five copies of the whole dossier
- Only personnel nominated by recognised medical organisations and groups shall be considered for the Award.
- Each organisation shall nominate a maximum of three volunteers.
- Medical volunteers active in the field for at least 5 years shall only be considered (administrative personnel shall not be considered).
- Nomination papers/work submitted to the Executive Office shall not be returned to the applicants, whether or not the nominees win the Award.
- The last date for receiving the completed nomination is February 29, 2012.
- The winner's name(s) will be announced in a Press conference held in Dubai during September 2012 and the Award will be presented in an official ceremony to be held in Dubai during December, 2012.
- The Award shall consist of:
- A trophy carrying the winner's name.
- A certificate in the winner's name.

- The winner shall be provided with a return business class air ticket, accommodation and visa to attend the Award Presentation Ceremony and Conference.
