The 3rd Emirates Neuroscience Conference has been inaugurated on Saturday, 12th November, 2005 by His Excellency Hamad Abdulrahman Al Midfaa, Minister of Health, Chairman - Board of Trustees of the Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences.

Sheikh Hamdan Award for Medical Sciences was the main sponsor of the conference. Recently, the foundation sponsored a tandem of conferences in Dubai & other emirates. In the inaugural function, H. E. Minister of Health stressed the purpose and need of the conference and he thanked H.H.Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum for his continuous patronage and support. The Minister of Health highlighted the scientific value of the conference and he added the participation of the elite of professors & doctors an evidence that the city of Dubai became the core of the scientific base in a short period of time which attracts conferences and international events and that the Emirate takes a perfect position in the fields of education, research and studies related to the development of medical sciences both on academic and vocational levels.

Dr. Ahmed Al Hashemi, Asst. Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health, Chairman - Finance Committee of the Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences and the President of this conference welcomed the participants and guests. In his welcome speech, he talked about the successful organization of the conference and the increase in the number of speakers which included 64 distinguished international personalities specialized in Neurosciences. He appreciated the organizing committee of the conference for their efforts to make this event to a grand success on all aspects and levels of international standard. Also he thanked the other sponsors of this event for their valuable support.


On behalf of the General Secretariat of the Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences, Dr. Ahmed Al Hashemi briefed about the activities of the awards and its participation by sponsoring International events in Dubai & other emirates. He made a small introduction about the forthcoming Award Ceremony and the 4th Dubai International Conference for Medical Sciences. This conference is the final activity of our 2 years term 2005-2006. This will be held from 18th to 21st December 2006 in Dubai. He added that in this round of awards they have already started receiving the nominations from the eligible candidates/ brilliant scientists for the prestigious prize. The winners will be presenting the result of their work in the scientific sessions of the Medical Conference along with presentations by others equally prominent in their field. Prior to this conference they will honour and recognize the winners on 18th December 2006 for their lifetime achievements. He said the last date for receiving the completed nominations is now extended to 31st December, 2005. In the conclusion of his speech Dr. Ahmed Al Hashemi invited everyone to the Exhibition stand of the awards to get more information.

H. E. Minister of Health inaugurated the Exhibition and visited the stands along with the invited guests. The conference ended with a closing ceremony wherein the organizers have distributed the certificates of appreciation & a memento to the supporting organizations including the sponsors & organizing committee members.
