Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences has been established with a view to honour researchers from every part of the world who tirelessly pursue distinctive medical research that serves the larger interests of humanity. Besides enriching scientific research, it has an additional objective of enhancing the nature of scientific interaction between doctors in this country and the overseas medical centers.

The foundation has successfully completed the 4 terms of the awards, which culminated in honouring eminent medical professionals with awards that recognized their unique contributions to medicine. I take this opportunity to thank all who have contributed in this endeavour.

In this term, the award will celebrate its 10th anniversary by the middle of December, 2008 and the main topic for this term will be STEM CELL RESEARCH. In our awards there are three categories, International, Arab World & United Arab Emirates awards. I hope these three categories of awards would inspire and encourage scientific researchers from all over the world to take part with their contributions by nominating the potential candidates for the awards.

After the success completion of the Awards’ four terms, and the 4th Dubai International Conference for Medical Sciences, H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum has continued his noble initiatives and generosity towards Medicine & Science by allocating Dirhams 20,000,000 (US$ 5,437,737) as the budget to organize this award for the development of Medicine and Science in the United Arab Emirates. I take this opportunity to extend my deepest gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Hamdan for his noble generosity and thank him for his continuous support.
