The French government praises H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum 27 November 2012
H.E. Eric Giraud Telme, Consul General of France, Dubai, provided a message of thanks from the French government to H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, UAE Minister of Finance, Chairman of Dubai Health Authority and Patron of Hamdan Medical Award (HMA), for his generous support to the health services locally, regionally and internationally.
 
“Within the coming months, a series of official contacts between the French government and Hamdan Medical Award will be held with the aim of supporting the ways of cooperation between the Award and the major French medical schools and institutions, in line with the ambitious plan of the United Arab Emirates which aims to boost the health sector according to the highest world standards”, H.E. Eric Giraud Telme said. 
 
This came during the expanded session of talks held at the Award headquarter headed by Prof. Najib Al Khaja, Secretary-General, HMA, in the presence of H.E. Eric Giraud Telme, Consul General of France, Tamalet Benoit, Regional Counselor for Health - Middle East- Ambassade de France Riyadh, Charlotte Pain, Officer for Cultural affairs, French Embassy in UAE, Abdullah Bin Souqat, Executive Director, HMA, Dr. Mansour Mohammed Yusuf  Nadhiri, Consultant at Anesthesia Department, Trauma Center, Dubai Rashid Hospital, and Dr. Philip Macaire, consultant at Anesthesia Department, Trauma center.
 
At the beginning of the meeting, Prof. Najib Al Khaja congratulated the French people on winning Hamdan Award for Volunteers in Humanitarian Medical Services, won by WAHA International, France. Also, he invited the members of the French Consulate General and the French people who live in the UAE to attend the Award Ceremony on 10th of December.
 
The recent visit of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, UAE Minister of Finance and Chairman of Dubai Health Authority, to France, at the invitation of UNESCO, has played an important role in consolidating the relationships between UAE and France in all fields.
 
“I am so proud of the fruitful cooperation with the prestigious University of Montpellier1, France, which has been resulted in holding the French Diploma on Regional Anesthesia and Analgesia in Dubai, supported by HMA and DHA”, Al Khaja said.
 
“The future strategy of Hamdan Medical Award focuses on studying the requirements of the health sectors within the Middle East, especially those related to the Continuing Medical Education Programs, and consolidating the cooperation with the best medical institutions all over the world with the aim of developing the skills of doctors and specialists”, Al Khaja added.
 
On the other hand, Mr. Abdullah Bin Souqat, Executive Director, HMA, thanked the officials of the consulate of France, Dubai, on their continuous support to the activities of the Award and welcomed expanding the ways of cooperation with France in the near future.
 
“The Award is currently studying a number of important projects to be held in cooperation with many international universities and medical institutions. These projects are expected to be reflected on improving the health services in the region. The Diploma in Anesthesia and Analgesia Regional Anesthesia is a successful model of cooperation with the University of Montpellier1, France. The Diploma has contributed in improving the professionalism of many Anesthesiologists in the region. The benefits could be gained from the practical study outweigh those of theoretical study, especially in the field of the medical education”, Bin Souqat added.
