Hamdan Medical Award participates in 3rd RAKMHSU Student Scientific Conference

Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences Participated in the 3rd RAKMHSU Student Scientific Conference on "Genetic Diseases in UAE", organized by RAK Medical and Health Sciences University in cooperation with UAE Genetic Diseases Association at the headquarter of the University in Ras Al Khaimah.
The conference discussed around 70 research papers as lectures and posters, by the students, with participation of 250 students from the UAE colleges of medicine and a galaxy of RAKMHSU’s teaching and administrative staff.
This was stated by Abdullah Bin Souqat, Executive Director of Hamdan Medical Award, after attending the Opening Ceremony of the Conference with Dr. Ghazi Tadmouri, Assistant Director, the Award’s Centre for Arab Genomic Studies (CAGS), and Tasneem Obaid and Pratibha Nair, Research Assistants, CAGS.
"Our participation in the conference is a part of the Award’s commitments including supporting the UAE health sector, particularly students of UAE faculties of medicine", Abdullah Bin Souqat said.
"The Award participated in the conference through a lecture dealt with a study, by (CAGS), on the history of the Consanguineous Marriage in Arabs, its impact on reproductive health and its advantages in the identification and characterization of many genes responsible for human diseases", he added.
"Also, the award participated in the accompanied exhibition which was a good opportunity to communicate with the upcoming doctors to explain the activities of the Award and its advantages in helping them to achieve the highest degree of excellence and success", he added.
"Undoubtedly, holding Student Scientific Conferences help the students of UAE faculties of medicine to recognize the main principles of the scientific research, the ways of application and its role in developing health sectors", Bin Souqat added.
"I believe the conference has provided the students with a unique experience of its kind, through which they have learnt how to extract the data they need from hospitals’ files, prepare questionnaires, analyze data and translate it into statistics, and present them as lectures or posters", he said.
