The 2ND annual editorial board meeting of the Hamdan Medical Journal 14 April 2014
The 2ND annual editorial board meeting of the Hamdan Medical Journal (HMJ), published by Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences, was held to discuss the Journal achievements during the past two years and the future plan in the light of its strategy which was announced in March 2012, in conjunction with the launch of the Journal.
 
The meeting was held at the headquarters of the Award, chaired by Professor Harold Rosen, Editor-In-Chief, and attended by Mr. Abdullah Bin Souqat, Executive Director of Hamdan Medical Award, Dr. Shereen Hamada, Senior Scientific Coordinator, Prof. Abdul Jabbar Mahdi, the Editor of HMJ and Prof. Sehamuddin Galadari and Prof. Muscat Baron, members of the Editorial Board.
 
During the meeting, the results achieved by the journal since its establishment and so far were discussed in the light of the exerted efforts to be internationally indexed through the regular publication of the scientific articles by senior scientists and researchers worldwide.
 
Also, the meeting discussed the preparations for the Award Ceremony and the 8th Dubai International Conference for Medical Sciences. The Drug Discovery was approved to be the main topic of the December 2014 issue of HMJ, especially since this subject alongside with Vaccines, Targeted Therapy and cell Therapy are the topics of the 8th term of Hamdan Medical Award.
 
The meeting reviewed the performance of the website of the Journal, http://hamdanjournal.org/, and the suggestions to develop its performance. A proposal to renovate its editorial board was discussed in order to diversify the sources of the published articles to keep up with the global developments on both the scientific and research aspects.
 
The meeting emphasized the need to attract a larger number of articles by Arab researchers, especially young scientists, in order to enhance the performance of HMJ in accordance with its mission of promoting scientific research in the region.
