Under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and UAE Minister of Finance, and supported by the Hamdan Medical Award, the Asia Pacific Dental Federation organized the 36th Asia Pacific Dental Congress in collaboration with the UAE Ministry of Health and Emirates Dental Society, at Dubai World Trade Centre, from 17 till June 19 with the participation of 27 member states in the Federation.

 

H.E. Abdul Rahman Al Owais, UAE Minister of Health and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Hamdan Medical Award, inaugurated the conference and delivered the opening speech in which he spoke about the importance of the conference which reviews many important experiences, wishing its findings to contribute in bringing new ideas to improve the preventive, diagnostic and therapeutic systems in that field of medicine within the UAE.

 

In conjunction with the conference, Dr. Aisha Sultan, President of the Emirates Dental Society and the Director of Dental Services, UAE Ministry of Health, was announced as the president of the Asia Pacific Dental Federation. Dr. Sultan is the first Arab female doctor occupying such a position since the establishment of the Federation in 1955 and until now.
