Under the patronage of Hamdan Medical Award: Opening the 2nd Pedia-Dubai International Conference for Pediatrics and Neonatology 03 April 2015
Mr. Abdullah bin Souqat, Executive Director of Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences, opened the 2nd Pedia-Dubai Conference of Pediatrics and Neonatology. The conference is held under the patronage of the award and in cooperation with the RAK Medical and Health Sciences University at Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Academic Medical center under the slogan “Bridging the Gaps in Neonatal and Child Health”.
 
The opening ceremony was attended by Prof. Dr. Abdullah Khayat, the President of the Conference, Dr. Yasser Al Nuaimi, honor president of the conference and expert advisor to the Ministry of Health hospitals, and Dr. S Gurumadhva Rao, Vice Chancellor of the RAK Medical and Health Sciences University.
 
During the opening ceremony, Mr. Abdullah bin Souqat delivered the inaugural speech, in which he said: “The patronage of Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences for this monumental conference and many other medical conferences – that strive to advance local, regional and international health care provision and decision making – is one of the most important activities of the Award. In fact, the central point of all the Award’s activities is to do with establishing and augmenting medical excellence”.
 
“Since its establishment in 1999, the Award has been making every effort to support all initiatives that aim at improving the health sector in UAE and abroad. This has been achieved through honoring excellent cadres in this field, constant support of medical education and funding scientific research in the medical field in general; particularly research on hereditary diseases”, he said.
 
“Throughout the years the Award progressed a great deal, so that now it has a long list of exceptional achievements, with pediatrics and neonatology being a top priority on its agenda. Children are tomorrow’s youths and the men and women of the future. Upon them we depend to proceed with advancing our nation and open up new avenues for progression and prosperity. Therefore, their health is our major concern, because if we take care of it now we will have a healthy nation in the future, God willing”, he added.
 
Prof. Dr. Abdullah al Khayyat, the President of the Conference, honored Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences in recognition of its efforts in supporting the health sector, particularly the conference. Then, Prof. Al Khayat and Mr. Abdullah bin Souqat opened the accompanying exhibition of the conference which is held with the participation of 12 companies.
 
It is worth mentioning that the 2nd Pedia-Dubai2015 includes 23 lectures and 7 workshops presented by a group of consultants and professors of pediatrics and neonatology from the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, Lebanon, Egypt, the United Kingdom, Bulgaria and Ireland. Also, the participants will receive 18 CME hours accredited from the UAE Ministry of Health.
