In collaboration with the International Association for Orthodontics: Dubai to host the 7thWorld Implant Orthodontic Conference 05 November 2015
Under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, UAE Minister of Finance, and Chairman of Dubai Health Authority, with the support of the Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Award for Medical Sciences, Dubai will host the7th World Implant Orthodontic Conference (WIOC) from 10-13 November.
The conference will be held at the Intercontinental Hotel, Dubai Festival City, and is organized by the Emirates Orthodontic Society, in cooperation with the Saudi Orthodontic Society and International Association for Orthodontics. The 4-days conference will be attended by more than 500 specialists from over 45 countries.
Mr. Abdullah Bin Souqat, the Executive Director of the Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences, praised Dubai’s hosting of the conference, which will be held for the first time in the Middle East. Previous six editions were held in many countries around the world, such as Korea, Taiwan, Italy, Thailand, Australia, and the United States and now proud to host this in Dubai. He further added that the conference deals with a relatively new discipline in the field of orthodontics, which requires specialists to make an additional effort to study and learn about it, in order to be familiar with its positive and negative aspects during application.
He said that the Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences is proud to hold such a specialized conference in the United Arab Emirates, thus enhancing its presence on the global medical conferences mapto meet the needs of professionals in this medical field across the Middle East. The conference will also help to familiarize medical professionals with the latest technologies used in various areas of specialization.
For her part, Dr. Moza Tahwara, the president of the conference, chairman of the Emirates Orthodontic Society, and UAE representative in the International Association for Orthodontics extended her thanks to H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and UAE Minister of Finance and Chairman of Dubai Health Authority, for his patronage of the conference and ongoing support for continuing medical education and medical research locally, regionally, and internationally.
She said that the conference includes 37 scientific lectures and 6 training workshops by 40 pioneer specialists in this filed, adding that the lectures of the conference has been made equivalent to 17.5 CME hours accredited by the Ministry of Health, in addition to 22 CME hours for the scientific program by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties.
She added that the conference tackles one of the advanced methods to facilitate orthodontic dental treatment, especially in critical and surgical cases, through the application of metal implants on patient's upper or lower jaw.
Dr. Amna Al Shamsi, orthodontist consultant, vice-president of theEmirates Orthodontic Society, and a member of the conference’s Scientific Committee referred to the fruitful cooperation with the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) for hosting the conference, noting that the distinguished global reputation of the city of Dubai as an ideal destination for holding conferences, as well as its strong capacities and infrastructure contributed to Dubai’s awarding to host this conference, the first of its kind in the region.
Dr. AL Shamsi further added that the Emirates Society of Orthodontists and the Saudi Orthodontic Society have played a pivotal role in winning the bid, since it enjoys considerable influence and the membership of 182 specialists in this sub specialty of dentistry. The conference seeks to highlight cases that were treated using implants, methods to get satisfactory results during treatment, the negative effects of the wrong use of implants, and treatment protocols in this regard.
