Hamdan Medical Award concludes the 1st module of the Health Economics Diploma 30 May 2013
Today afternoon, Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences (HMA) concluded the 1st module of the Health Economics and Health Technology Assessment Diploma accredited from University of Washington, USA, at Al Murooj Rotana Hotel, Dubai, with the participation of 25 decision makers and opinion leaders from the health institutions within the UAE, Bahrain and Kuwait.
 
During the closing session, Mr. Abdullah bin Souqat, Executive Director of HMA, praised the efforts of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, UAE Minister of Finance, President of Dubai Health Authority and Patron of the Award in improving the UAE health sector. "The quality of healthcare sectors is an important indicator to the standard of the renaissance of nations. One of the main goals of HMA is supporting the continuing medical education in order to improve the performance of the healthcare professionals locally and regionally", he said.
 
Also, Bin Souqat reviewed the activities of the centers of the Award including the Awards Center, Center for Arab Genomic Studies, center for supporting scientific research in the UAE in addition to Hamdan Medical Journal, and wished the participants all the best and meeting with them during the 2nd module of the program (from 29 to 31 October).
 
On the other side, the students of the Diploma thanked HMA for its efforts in supporting such a valuable training course which provides good information about many important topics for both the administrative staff and physicians working in the healthcare sectors.
 
It is worth mentioning that the Health Economic and Health Technology Assessment Diploma is organized for the first time in the Middle East by Hamdan Medical Award in collaboration with the Pharmaceutical Outcomes Research & Policy Program affiliated to the College of Pharmacy, University of Washington, and supported by Bristol-Myers Squibb Company, Middle East and Africa. The program deals with the scientific basis of making decisions in healthcare institutions including the mechanisms of the strategic planning, follow-up process and achieving the integration between the facilities, available resources and manpower and the balance between the supply and demand.
